I don't mind taking the bus, I did it half my life but I do prefer having a car. I am kind of seeing all my options right now since I am in need of a new vehicle. I am wondering if bus fair prices will go down now that the gas prices are dropping so much and if this is the case, I might put off getting a car until the fall.
I really doubt it. Bus prices have always increased in my experience, not one have I seen the fare go down.
If anything, they'll just cut routes for a while instead.
It seems to have gone up lately but general bus passes stayed the same, if not are cheaper than before but not by much. Maybe it depends on your area?
I don't think so. I don't think it works the same way. Buses run off of tax payer income regardless of the cost of gas and with a lot of people out of work, I would imagine the cost would go up.
I have never seen the cost come down, even when gas prices were lower. I was taking the bus a lot for a few years when my car got wrecked and I couldn't afford to fix it. The price went up if anything.
From what I've heard, the prices did not come down. I'm not at all surprised about that either.
There's also little incentive to lower gas prices again. Nobody buys gas because it's cheaper, we buy it because we need it. If we could store it and use it at a later date, that would be a different story.
