I want some quick and easy tips for boosting your credit score as fast as possible. I would prefer to get tips that people know have worked for them. As it stands, my scores have not improved in a long while even though I have been making payments on time. I would like to be able to apply for a home loan next year so I only have 6 months to improve things.
Credit scores are not quickly increased. It's slow and steady and something you have to work on to maintain forever.
Secured loans are a good way to increase your score. Other common things include cell phone contracts and credit cards.
If you are paying everything on time and your scores are still not improving, apply for more credit. You can apply for a store card, take out a lease on a car, get a new phone contract, things like that.
amely: Instead of approaching things on a 30 day basis, do it every 14 days or even every 7 days. Make smaller, more frequent payments. This should help boost your score.
@amely A friend of mine did this. He still has a lot of college debt from his student loans and it helped his scores improve enough to get a house.
Since you will need good scores for a home loan and you want to buy a house next year, I suggestion paying off 80% of your cards. I am not sure how many you have or what other debts you have acquired but do your best to only have 2 or 3 credit cards and no other debts.

The cell phone contracts do help. I didn't have one for awhile and decided to get one again and after a few months my scores did improve. I wasn't even trying.
lavinia: Sign up for a card with a friend or family member who has good credit. You won't need the number or a card to access it, just having your name on the card will help improve your scores.
@lavinia That is an option? I would imagine you sign up with them as an authorized user while the card is still primarily held by them. That is a fantastic idea though, I am going to look into this myself!
